    1. THAT Staff Report 2023-621 titled, “Current and Prospective Major Sport Teams and Local Sport Facilities” BE RECEIVED; and
    2. THAT the Chair of the Major Sports Team Liaison Committee and the Manager of Economic Development and BRC CONSULT with current major league sports teams listed in section 5.1.1 and 5.1.3, gather feedback of their experiences in the City of Brantford; and report back to the Committee; and
    3. THAT staff PREPARE a report related to the City of Brantford sport facilities listed in section 5.2 and include the following information:
      1. Seating capacity;
      2. Parking review;
      3. General overview of the state of the facility; and
      4. Future plans for the facility
    1. THAT Report 2023-630, entitled “Lane Closing and Conveyance on Lawrence Street; Lyons Avenue; Ridgewood Drive; and Abigail Avenue” BE RECEIVED; and,
    2. THAT the necessary By-law to close and convey the Lane, Plan 110A, Adjoining Lots 80, to 82, and Lots 144 and 145; City of Brantford; Being all of the PIN 32163-0322 (LT) to the abutting property owners BE PRESENTED to City Council for adoption at its November 28, 2023 Regular Meeting, following the prescribed public notice process.
    1. THAT Staff Report 2023-489 entitled License Agreement for Air Monitoring Station (324 Grand River Avenue) BE RECEIVED; and
    2. THAT the City Clerk BE DIRECTED to place the License Agreement between His Majesty the King in the Right of Ontario as represented by the Minister of Infrastructure and the City of Brantford on the Council Signing By-Law.
    1. THAT Report 2023-659, Sign By-law Amendment regarding Billboard Signs, BE RECEIVED; and
    2. THAT Chapter 478 (Signs – Outdoor Other Advertising Devices) of the City of Brantford Municipal Code, also known as the Sign By-law, BE AMENDED as detailed in Report 2023-659; and
    3. THAT the necessary by-law to amend Chapter 478 of the City of Brantford Municipal Code to implement the amendments described in Item “B” above BE PRESENTED to Council for adoption.
    1. THAT Report 2023-515 entitled “Bylaw Restrictions for Copper and Metal Theft Occurrences” BE RECEIVED; and
    2. THAT a Bylaw to amend Chapter 326 of the City of Brantford Municipal Code as it relates to the licensing and fees of Salvage Yards as outline in Report 2023 – 515 BE PRESENTED to Council for adoption; and
    3. THAT the City of Brantford SEND a letter and a copy of this report to the MPP Brantford-Brant, Willem Bouma, and the Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery, with a request to regulate Salvage Yards throughout the Province of Ontario similar to the Province of Alberta’s Scrap Metal Dealers and Recyclers Identification Act.
    1. THAT Report 2023-675 National Housing Co-Investment Funding for Renovation, Repair and Renewal BE RECEIVED; and
    2. THAT the Chief Administrative Officer or Delegate BE AUTHORIZED AND DIRECTED to execute a Contribution Agreement between The Corporation of the City of Brantford and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, and any ancillary documents thereto, in a form approved by the City Solicitor; and
    3. THAT the Director of Housing and Homelessness Services BE DIRECTED to cost-share eligible capital projects and repairs as identified in Appendix A to Report 2023-675; and
    4. THAT the Director of Housing and Homelessness Services and the Manager of Purchasing BE AUTHORIZED to award and execute any contracts and amendments as required to complete the necessary capital works; and
    5. THAT the Director of Housing and Homelessness Services BE AUTHORIZED to revise or add capital projects and repairs to Appendix A, as needed, to ensure full expenditure of the funding allocation; and
    6. THAT the Director of Housing and Homelessness Services BE AUTHORIZED to hire and retain an external consultant to manage the projects to an upset limit of $300,000 that will be cost-shared with CMHC; and
    7. THAT staff PROVIDE an annual report to Social Services Committee on the status of capital projects receiving National Housing Co-Investment Fund contribution funding; and
    8. THAT the City Clerk BE DIRECTED to forward a copy of the final resolution and staff report to the Social Services Committee, Brantford-Brant Local Housing Corporation and Brantford Municipal Non-Profit Corporation boards, and to the County of Brant.
    1. THAT Report 2023-382 entitled “Condolence Procedure” BE RECEIVED; and
    2. THAT the necessary By-Law to repeal Corporate Policy-002 Memorial Donations/Tributes BE PRESENTED to Council for adoption.
    1. THAT Report No. 2023-676 regarding a Memorandum of Understanding with Lansdowne Children’s Centre BE RECEIVED; and
    2. THAT the Manager of Real Estate BE DELEGATED authority to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding between The Corporation of the City of Brantford and Lansdowne Children’s Centre for the purposes of working towards an Agreement of Purchase and Sale to effect the disposition of land within the Mohawk Lake District, which Agreement of Purchase and Sale shall be subject to Council approval.
  • WHEREAS the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is the largest centre dedicated to improving children’s health in the country; and

    WHEREAS a local 9 year old Brantford Resident attending Notre Dame School is a patient of SickKids Hospital; and

    WHEREAS the resident was diagnosed with heart failure in January has recently undergone a heart transplant; and

    WHEREAS the resident is hosting a “fun fair” at Branlyn Community Centre to bring awareness and raise money for the SickKids Foundation as they have done so much for her; and

    WHEREAS SickKids foundation is in support and will be attending the event; and

    WHEREAS my youngest child is a heart surgery survivor; and

    NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the facility fees for the SickKids “fun fair” Fundraiser up to $1,200 BE FUNDED from the Council Priorities Reserve (RF0558).
