Community Climate Action Plan Progress Update [Financial Impact: None], 2022-365

Gagan Batra, Manager of Business Supports and Sustainability and Laura Almeida, Policy and Program Support Analyst appeared before the Committee and provided an overview of the Action Plan.

Staff answered various questions from the Committee

• 1. THAT Report 2022-365 Community Climate Action Plan Progress Update BE RECEIVED; and
  2. THAT the following comments from the Environmental Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee regarding the Brantford Community Climate Change Action Plan BE INCLUDED in Staff’s future report to Committee of the Whole – Operations:
     1. The Environmental and Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee notes possible policy changes related to municipal waste collections from the Provincial government
     2. The Environmental and Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee acknowledges the importance of education materials and past successes of and about waste diversion programs
     3. The Environmental and Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee recommends considering monitoring of use of bike lanes and trails
     4. The Environmental and Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee suggests including statistics related to social media posts associated with sustainability activities
     5. The Environmental and Sustainability Policy Advisory Committee recommends reviewing data related to composters and rain barrels for possible indications of waste diversion
